North Padre Retail Center Coming Soon?

The Packery Point Retail Development center will be on nine acres of land on North Padre near the Packery Channel.
J. Golden Properties wil try and attract businesses to nine acres of land that line S.P.I.D. on Padre Island. They are calling their project Packery Pointe and have long-term plans for condominiums and a marina on Packery Channel.

Retail stores are also part of the plan and on Monday developers met with city engineers and TxDOT to talk about changes to the roadway. Retail and food are just phase one. Developers foresee filling up nearly fifty more acres that runs along 4,000 feet of Packery Channel. The same developers are behind the Metropolis Lofts and have been transforming the old Lichtenstein Department Store downtown into seventy apartments and retail space.

The developer plans on adding a left turn lane on S.P.I.D. to create safe and easy access to the retail stores within walking distance from the shore.
